Lyneham Public Toilets Refurbishment Announcement

We are pleased to announce that the refurbishment of the Lyneham public toilets will commence on 14th July 2025 and is expected to take 12 weeks to complete. The Parish Council is partnering with Leith Group to ensure a high-quality project for the Community.

During this period, a skip will be placed on-site to facilitate the removal of existing fixtures. Below are the key details of the planned upgrades:

Key Features of the Refurbishment

  • Wall and Floor Finishes: Existing floor and wall tiles will remain, with new white wall cladding installed from floor to ceiling for a clean, modern appearance.
  • Lighting: Standard LED lighting with sensors will be installed.
  • Gents’ Facilities:
    • Installation of 1 toilet, recessed wash hand basin/hand dryer combined unit, similar to the existing one.
    • Removal of the existing stainless steel urinal, replaced with 2 wall-mounted urinals.
    • Space for a changing unit outside of a cubicle.
  • Ladies’ Facilities:
    • Installation of a new worktop and wash hand basin.
    • Reduction to 2 cubicles, with one larger cubicle incorporating a baby changing unit.
  • Accessible Toilet:
    • Will remain in its original location due to access constraints, with no alterations to access routes.
    • Timed magnetic lock provisions will be added to restrict usage during certain hours, preventing rough sleeping.
  • Cisterns and Controls: All cisterns, including those for urinals, will be housed in the plant room. Velux controls will also be located in the plant room, accessible only to council staff.
  • External Features:
    • New external doors will be powder-coated in the local authority’s designated colour.
    • Existing external timber will be rubbed down and treated, with no jet washing of the roof to avoid potential damage.

We are committed to delivering modern, functional, and accessible facilities whilst maintaining the structural integrity of the building. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the refurbishment period and appreciate your understanding.
